Illustration Friday - Voices

Better late than never. Work has been really busy, found some time to work on the topic "voices". My first thought was radio's...then progressed onto communications then onto wires. Looking at these again, I will continue working on a few more variations.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Feeling positive about 2009. So much I want and need to do.

Library visit - Harry Clark Illustration

Interesting book called Demons:visions of evil in art by Laura Wood and Will Steeds (ok some transgression away from the skull thing). Had to make reference to this1925 illustration entitled Faust and Mephistopheles by Harry Clark . Harry Clark illustrated 1925 edition of Goethe's play Faust.

Quote from Demons:visions of evil in art "Clark has given Mephistopheles an elastic form to emphasize the deceptiveness and ever changing nature of the devil - the literal 'shiftiness' of the evil one. Faust is confronted by the tantilizing spectacle, conjured by Mephistopheles of a half-naked woman".

New York visit

Metropolitan museum of art New York: Like the pattern on this vase

St Patricks day Parade New York 2008 ...good view

Native American museum...Can't leave the skull thing alone can I?

Long Island view from Ferry around New York Manhattan

Metropolitan Mueseum of art

In March I went to New York for The 2008 St Patricks day parade, found these images on my pc, which I will use for mmmmmm some ideas maybe?

Ah ha...yes we have it.

Look what I have found! oooooh like it

Skulls skulls skulls anyone for a skull

Can't help it....must resist. Many many skull Paraphernalia out there. Nope I'm trapped as I keep drawing skulls. The above is just one of many.

From the xmas doodle of bird (previous post below) I made a bird pendant.

Bangles and all the frills

Leaf obsessed. The flat pierced out leaves were made a few years ago...progressed onto modelled leaves. Still can "leave" the idea alone ha ha ha... oh dear.

The bangles are also early work in piercing out.

Getting ready for christmas

Lots of pretty things to buy for christmas decorating....shame I'm too late for Woolworths. Shelves already cleared. Brown paper and string me thinks.

Commissioned ring W.I.P

Silver Sunflower ring. Again customer collected final piece before I got a chance to photograph it..this is the band the flower head was soldered to. Made by me for Jewelled

Commissioned Ring work in progress

Made by me for Jewelled, this silver chunky ring shows work in progress. The final piece has already been collected by the customer, so I didn't have time to photograph the finished result. The ring was set with a large yellow citrine and polished.

Getting used to blogging but I think I will stop posting on my second day. I have lots to catalogue. I painted these faces last year and must get back to painting in oils again....just not enough hours in the day.

More wax work

Here are leaves and four leaf clover Jewellery I made a couple of months ago made for Jewelled These were originally hand carved in wax then cast in silver.

Reference to past Jewellery work

Moulds are made from these green models using the lost wax casting process. Using these moulds the charms are cast in silver. Made by me for Jewelled .
